Our book club is taking a seriously long break. The girls are so busy with school, sports, young women, band, and so many activities that it just hasn't worked out for us to get together. Maybe we'll try again next year.
Most likely we will be forming a new group with the little girls turning eight next year. The new batch of Activity Day girls.
We will keep you posted on dates and times.

Fairest
Our book for March was Fairest. It was so interesting to see the parallels with Snow White. There was the mirror, the castle, the prince, and many others. Melissa hosted it and made up a gorgeous table where a feast was served with many items from the book. We had root veggies, just like the gnomes, and we had crusty french bread, fruit, and an amazing chocolate cake.
Everyone enjoyed the story and the coming of age book about a girl trying to find her place in life and learning who she is and who she can become if she only believes in herself.

The BFG (Big Friendly Giant)
The girls had a blast discussing the BFG and eating an awesome breakfast. The girls made their monthly fruit salad. Everything was yummy. Thanks Sophie!

Back to business
We took a pretty long break, but we are back.
School started and things got busy.
Right now we have girls involved in Band, Choir, Golf, Basketball. Young Women, Activity Days, and Dance.
It's a super busy time of year.
We do have a book for December and we will get together in January 2010 to discuss it.

HOLES
Our meeting last friday was so fun! We discussed our book over yummy smoothies and the girls all enjoyed the book. Maddie loved Zero and most of us loved Stanley. We were all glad for a happy ending.
Everyone agreed that they liked that Stanley was so patient and kind to teach Zero to read and write.
The girls dug up buried treasure(a suitcase in our garden) with the name Stanley Yelnats on it and discovered jewels(ring pops) and toys(bloonies) remember those?
We then had to cool down with cookies and cream ice cream and brownies. It was supposed to look like dirt.
We all had a great time!
I forgot pictures again!aaah! We need to have a designated photographer.

Sisters Grimm
The girls and moms enjoyed meeting together and discussing Sisters Grimm. Everyone had great comments about the characters, theme, and plot.
Kelsey chose to have the girls make their own monsters out of clay. They spent a long time working on these critters and they turned out great.
Allright, where are the photos? We need an official camera woman!
Volunteers?
I'll take some photos of Maddie's fairy so you can get an idea.
