We took a pretty long break, but we are back.
School started and things got busy.
Right now we have girls involved in Band, Choir, Golf, Basketball. Young Women, Activity Days, and Dance.
It's a super busy time of year.
We do have a book for December and we will get together in January 2010 to discuss it.

HOLES
Our meeting last friday was so fun! We discussed our book over yummy smoothies and the girls all enjoyed the book. Maddie loved Zero and most of us loved Stanley. We were all glad for a happy ending.
Everyone agreed that they liked that Stanley was so patient and kind to teach Zero to read and write.
The girls dug up buried treasure(a suitcase in our garden) with the name Stanley Yelnats on it and discovered jewels(ring pops) and toys(bloonies) remember those?
We then had to cool down with cookies and cream ice cream and brownies. It was supposed to look like dirt.
We all had a great time!
I forgot pictures again!aaah! We need to have a designated photographer.

Sisters Grimm
The girls and moms enjoyed meeting together and discussing Sisters Grimm. Everyone had great comments about the characters, theme, and plot.
Kelsey chose to have the girls make their own monsters out of clay. They spent a long time working on these critters and they turned out great.
Allright, where are the photos? We need an official camera woman!
Volunteers?
I'll take some photos of Maddie's fairy so you can get an idea.

The Little Prince
We had such a fun time at our last meeting. We discussed the book as we sat in the lovely shade in Sophie's backyard.
The girls had yummy strawberry shortcake and enjoyed making their own planets like the ones in the book.
Thanks for being our hostess Sophie.

Our First Meeting
We discussed Stuart Little by E.B. White last Friday. The girls had great insights and comments about the characters and plot.
They had a great time painting birdhouses and putting their little "Margalo" inside them.
Oops! I forgot to take pictures. I will later post some of the birdhouses.

Newberry Winners and Others
I just got a great list of classic books and Newberry winners and Honors from Linda . I guess the ward used to have a kids book club. I am really excited about this list because it will help us select and read wonderful meaningful stories. Remember to share your ideas on the blog or give me a call. I am happy to see that we have so many readers in our ward and our schools.
Please feel free to invite a friend or neighbor and their mothers.

Comments and Suggestions
Please feel free to share your ideas with me. You can post them in the comments or just give me a call. I would really appreciate your input and suggestions to make this book club a great opportunity for our girls and their moms.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Welcome Moms and Daughters
I know you will enjoy our book club. We will have fun getting to know each other, sharing our thoughts and ideas, and mainly, spending quality time with our daughters.
We will meet at the end of each month to discuss our book, eat a snack, and do a book-related activity. Each mother-daughter team will take a turn being the hostess. The hostess chooses the book for the month , which we will post on the blog monthly, holds the meeting in her home, plans a book discussion, and carries out the activity.
Our meetings will be held the last Friday of the month from 4-6pm. If you prefer the beginning of the month, we can do that instead.
Gathering Activity
We want to encourage and establish healthy eating patterns, so for snack please bring one piece of fruit to every meeting. The girls will peel and cut up the fruit and make a fruit salad. This will be our gathering activity for the first 30 minutes.
Book Discussion
The hostess should lead a discussion about the book she chose. She can have questions for the girls to answer, talk about her favorite part of the book, read quotes, etc.
Book-related Activity
Plan an activity( craft, cooking, painting) whatever you feel you want to share with us about the book.
The schedule will be as follows:
4-4:30 Gathering activity and snack
4:35-5 Discuss Book
5-6 Activity
(of course the schedule is flexible. It is merely to give you an idea of what we have in mind)
We had such a wonderful time attending this book club in our last ward. I hope you will come and have fun with us.
